September Glow

The timing of the sunrises in September are perfect for my morning routine–I catch them almost every day and they are such a treat. This was a special one from last week … I could see the sky glowing from the house and hurried down to the Eastern Prom with the pups to catch it. Mother Nature is amazing!

I talked to my brother later that day and he asked me if I caught that sunrise because he could see the incredible glow above his house in South Portland. I sent him a few pictures and we decided on this scene for the weekend sibling set.

This was a tough square composition for me to settle on … to include Fort Gorges or not. You know how much I love the Fort, but I felt like the composition was better without it, so for me, it’s all about the sun coming up. Michael solved the issue by painting a panoramic that included everything! I love seeing how we both interpret that same scene in paint and hope you do too.
