What a beautiful day we had today–mild temps, sunshine and more daylight than yesterday! One step closer to spring. Ahhhh. And I just felt like getting lost in the beauty of an afternoon walk on the shores of a lovely island cove. The light, the colors, the water were just what I needed to surround […]

Winter Head Light
We had a nice little stretch of winter weather complete with snow storms and a cold snap. It was so beautiful. After one of the storms we decided to go for a spin and see our favorite places covered in snow. Here’s the Portland Head Light basking in the morning light after a fluffy snowfall. […]
Cardinal in Snow
The snowfall on Friday was so beautiful! I was sitting at the kitchen table looking out the window and a cardinal popped into the frame. I just love cardinals. They are so vibrant in our winter landscape and so sweet to watch. This one sat on the branch for a minute and then hopped around […]
Island Lookout
Winding up a narrow trail through the mossy trees and big granite rocks was a treat in itself! And then being rewarded with this view was just the icing on the cake. Wow. So much beauty and sense of freedom here. I love this little Ten Cent Island that sits framed between the tree branches […]
Sailing into 2023
Happy New Year! I love taking this time of year to reflect on the year I’m leaving behind and the year I’m looking forward to. I put on an Art Queens video about planning for a new year and painted away while dreaming of island magic and exciting things to come. May we all sail […]
Morning Light
This little island was singing and dancing as the morning light hit it. I was on my paddle board with my pup enjoying the stillness and the arrival of the warmth of the morning sun. And of course the seals that followed us–they are soooo cute. Such a treat!
The Moon is Up

Sunset Rocks
Sitting at the water’s edge watching the sun go down is such a treat. This was one of my favorite island perches for both sunsets and sunrises. I loved how the tide level was ever-changing and sometimes revealed so much rock and seaweed, and at other times, ate them up. Ocean magic.

Ledge with a View
I sat up high on this ledge looking out over the Basin and painted the other day. It was such a quiet and peaceful morning. I could hear the wings of the birds flying by, I could hear seal splashes down below and feeling the warmth of the sun on my shoulders was sooooo nice. […]
