Summer Sunset Glow

The weekend got away from me … a long bike ride, visiting with friends and celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary in the family. Phew! I did manage to carve out a little time to paint with my brother yesterday, just not enough time to post. Here we go … Summer sunsets over water are magic […]

July Sunrise on the Prom

We’re back with a sibling set after a rather long break. Life just got in the way for a bit. We’re hoping to keep this rolling as we have so much fun doing these. Here’s a sunrise from earlier this week on the Eastern Prom that I shared with Michael and we made it happen. […]

Berry Time I & II

I’m back in Maine … and I’m getting to enjoy a second strawberry season. What a treat! I went and picked berries with a couple of girlfriends last week and of course, I couldn’t resist painting them. Fresh picked strawberries truly are nature’s candy. So good! I hope you got to enjoy some too. 🙂

Full Moon on the Beach

Full moons and new moons are my favorite on Fripp because I love watching the extra high tides come in around me–it’s such a magical feeling to feel as though you are floating in the marsh.  And then to catch moonrises and sunsets over the full marsh and  beach is icing on the cake.  Here’s […]

Dusk on the Marsh

High tide on the marsh is my favorite! And when it coincides with sunrise or sunset, it’s the best! Here’s a look across Marsh Dunes Road during one of the magical moments. Such a treat to witness this lowcountry magic!

Munjoy Hill

A little painting of my hood back home in Maine at sunset. As many of you know, the Portland Observatory is my favorite Portland landmark the way it stands tall overlooking the city, the bay and beyond.

Under the Umbrella

I love popping into Low Country Cider Co. & Superior Coffee not only because I love their oat milk lattes, but I also because I love their patio! Just look at these orange umbrellas and blue tables. So inviting. Come on, let’s enjoy a cup of joe!

Lane’s Island Joy

Painting the Lowcountry is so different from painting the Maine coast. The shores are so different–it’s all sand and marsh down here and mostly rocky ledges and pine trees at home. Today I decided to let myself get lost in the familiar which is the rugged island coastline. So fun. I love the colors of […]

Tropical Sunset

There are a few similarities between the South Carolina Lowcountry and the Maine coast … lots of beauty, islands, water, wonderful wildlife and in places the marsh looks the same. But really they are such different landscapes and the colors have a different feel too. Here’s a recent sunset as seen from the end of […]

Fiddler’s Sunset

I love all sunsets, but when there are some floating clouds that call for a dramatic end to the day, that is my favorite! I have witnessed a few of them over the marsh on Fiddler’s Ridge recently and it’s pure magic. At this time of year we can watch them right from the kitchen […]
